Bryan

Guitar, Bass & Ukulele

Born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, Bryan started taking piano lessons when he was 5 years old. When he was 9, he stopped learning the piano as he found a passion for a new instrument, the ukulele. He started building his name as a child prodigy, playing solo fingerstyle ukulele. His playing got him an invitation to appear as a guest performer on Astro 小太阳, 孩子王talent show. At the age of 15, Bryan picked up the guitar and the bass and participated in school bands and musicals.

Bryan taught himself composition, arranging and songwriting, and this allowed him to take on many musical direction roles in high school, and eventually helped him secure a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated with a BA degree from the Contemporary Writing and Production department.

While at Berklee, his versatile talents were used in Berklee Shows as a musical director, notably the Budaya Malaysian Caf Show and the BPC show. Today, Bryan is the bassist of his own J-Rock-inspired band, Math Class, where he’s in charge of mixing/mastering, producing, arranging and composing. He also runs his own music production service that has gathered over 50+ 5 star reviews over the course of 3 years.

Bryan encourages students to always learn and play music that they love, and prioritize their personal enjoyment. He makes the best effort in making learning music stress-free, even when overcoming challenges. Bryan will also adapt to students’ learning style in order to achieve optimum and satisfactory progress. As long as the student’s happy and having fun, that’s Bryan’s priority.
