Nicholas Wong

Nicholas Wong is the Principal and Guitar Teacher at Musician Story, where he leads a team of over 40 teachers in delivering performance-based music education to students of all ages. With two decades of teaching experience, Nicholas holds a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Music, majoring in electric guitar, from UCSI University (2012). He also earned a Grade 8 certification in Classical Guitar from Trinity College London (2009) and a Grade 6 certification in Violin and Theory from ABRSM. Additionally, he served as an academic advisor for UCSI University from 2020 to 2021.

Nicholas is the author of "Modern Guitar Learning Method" and he also created the "Multi-Strategy Approach" learning system in 2011. His guitar tutorial YouTube channel is 1 of the highest number of subscribers and positive reviews in Malaysia & Singapore boasting an impressive 70,000 subscribers. Nicholas's dedication to music education and his outstanding reputation make him a cornerstone of Musician Story.

 

Nicholas believes the best way to learn music is to enjoy playing music. He prioritizes a real-world musician's learning approach over traditional methods that rely heavily on music theory and boring songs. His method focuses on practical, enjoyable, and achievement-oriented learning experiences, including performing with a band in diverse venues, creating music covers, and participating in competitions, on top of preparing for professional music exams. By integrating students' favourite songs and genres into lessons, Nicholas ensures they remain motivated and enthusiastic about their musical education.

 

Under Nicholas's leadership, Musician Story received the Top 3 Malaysia Music Centres award in 2023. Hundreds of students have achieved top scores in Malaysia exams, won competitions. The school has also organized over 300 concerts and events over the years.
