Ashlyn Yap

Ashlyn began her musical journey at the age of four. Growing up under the Yamaha Music Course, she has developed a strong listening, improvisation, and ensemble skills from an early age. She later pursued classical training and achieved a Distinction in ABRSM Grade 8 Piano in 2021 and a Merit in ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory in 2022. The same year, she competed in the 6th Steinway Malaysia Youth Piano Competition and won a Gold Award at the Hong Kong International Performing Arts Festival and Music Competition. Beyond that, she plays contemporary bands for five years, gaining experience in gospel and pop styles.
 

Ashlyn is passionate about instilling strong technical foundations in her students while also nurturing a genuine love for music. She believes that music is not just about playing the right notes, it is a form of expression, discipline and joy. With over 10 years of piano and violin experience, she brings a structured yet creative teaching style tailored to each student’s pace and personality.
